dc.descriptionThe profession of Nursing throughout its evolution has been basing its professional practice on models and theories that have emerged to support the disciplinary conception of the profession. This research established the level of implementation of Self-Care Deficit Model in Nursing Care Process in trauma patients to develop a care plan and an algorithm for this special group of patients. The research was qualitative-quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive, the information was obtained with a survey carried out to the nursing staff of the emergency areas of the Eugenio Espejo Hospital. The results show that the professionals have a level of bachelor is degree education and their experience is between 5 to 10 years. They use the cephalocaudal physical examination as a method of assessment, they elaborate nursing diagnoses resulting from this assessment, but they have difficulties to establish results using the NANDA, NOC, NIC taxonomy. They apply the Nursing Care Process, however, by institutional arrangement, all of them prepare reports based on the SOAPIE format. We believe that the implementation of the process nursing care is still incipient serious difficulties at the stage of developing results which cause resistance professionals to draw up reports SOAPIE, so it is appropriate to initiate training processes on the use of taxonomy NANDA, NOC, NIC, setting formats specific valuation to record actual and potential problems as well as the particularities of each patient, which would improve the committed participation of professionals in the use of nurse language as a tool that provides professional identity and facilitates personalized and quality care to the patient.en
