| Descripción : | The relationship between education and income, established by the theory of human capital, proposes treating education as one of the main determinants of the income level of individuals. However, although the theory confirms that education offers an advantage to obtain higher income, hypotheses that point to diminishing returns in education are discussed starting in the 21st century. In this context, the present study analyzes the empirical relationship between wage earners income and levels of education, as well as the evolution of educational return for the 2007-2017 period in Ecuador. For its demonstration, cross-sectional models were used for each year, using data from the ENEMDU based on the Mincer equation, estimated using the sample design application. In this scenario, the results confirm the advantage that education offers in obtaining income, however, it is concluded that this advantage presents a decreasing behavior. |
