dc.descriptionThe temporomandibular disorders (TMD), encompass a set of clinical problems that include different anatomical structures such as: muscles of the mastication, the temporomandibular joint and the associated structures. The morphological alterations of the mandibular condyle are caused by a certain number of entities, from anomalies of the development, passing through the alterations that produce the temporomandibular disorder and even arriving at tumoral pathologies that modify the normal morphology of the mandibular condyle. OBJECTIVE. To evaluate the condylar morphology of the TMJ by means of a radiographic review in patients from 20 to 50 years of age diagnosed with temporomandibular dysfunction treated in the period from January to December 2018. MATERIALS AND METHODS. N 60 randomly chosen panoramic radiographs were examined between men and women at an age of 20 to 50 years of age; the radiographs were evaluated to observe the morphological alteration of the condyle. RESULTS: Of the total of the population of general way 65 percent of the sample presents morphological alterations, predominating the masculine sort with 70% whereas 30 percent does not present alteration; in the female gender, 60% presented morphological alteration, while 40 percent did not present alteration. The age range of 20 to 30 years presented 50 percent with morphological alteration, the remaining 50 percent did not present any alteration; from 31 to 40 years it was observed that 80 percent presents morphological alteration,while 20 percent does not present and finally from 41 to 50 years it was observed that 92.9 percent presents morphological alteration, 7.1 percent does not present any alteration. CONCLUSION. In the present study statistically presented morphological alteration of the condyle male patients with 70 percent, also the age of highest prevalence 41-50 years of age with 92.9 percent.en
