Objective. To determine the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders in music students of the University of the Americas. Materials and methods. 32 students participated in the study in the period 2019-1, the questionnaire and the clinical assessment was carried out in the facilities of the music faculty of the University of the Americas, the study was based on a test supported by the Helkimo index performed on students which includes components such as anamnesis and clinical examination based on the International Criteria for Mandibular Axis Dysfunction 2 CTMD, allowing the identification of patients without TM dysfunction, mild, moderate, severe temporomandibular disorder. Results. it was evidenced that the mild-moderate dysfunction is the one that prevails in the students. The prevalence of temporomandibular disorders is mild 69 percent and without TTM 31 percent. The incidence by gender prevails in the female gender, presenting 52.5 percent;, the masculine gender 46.2 percent. Conclusions. 53 percent have no signs or symptoms of TMD, 47 percent have at least one sign or symptom of TMD. It was demonstrated that the use of musical instruments and vocalization are predisposing factors to develop problems in the temporomandibular joint.en
