Descripción : With the rapid development of optical networks, more and more experts agree in giving great importance to an element of this network, such as the optical splitter, and try to optimize its function as much as possible. As a result, optical splitters become diversiform with different design objectives, which can be used in different applications. In the market there is a variety of fiber optic dividers that adapt to many applications, and that must be provided by the instant messaging service provider so that they can access the user in perfect physical condition and work. Since optical splitters are key elements in passive optical network implementations, couplers are available in designs not suitable for aggressive external environments. Therefore, tests should be done in an experimental bank to predict faults in the real field based on modeling at different distances using coils or without them for a local environment. In the present work, the characteristic of an optical splitter and a single-mode test bank of the telecommunications laboratory of the University of The Americas can be used. The division of power in the divider and in the test, bench is analyzed to verify the ability to verify the variation of the wavelength and the level of the output signals that are obtained from the optimum levels for the transmission of data loss. The variation in the power and attenuation of the dividers of the commercially available book manufacturers in the companies that provide the Internet and data service is compared. The methodology used for the investigation was an experimental and field application study that was based on real tests for the characterization of the optical divisor types or divisors, the one of 4 pines and the one of 8 pines, obtaining as a result that the 1x4 divisor was to be more stable and consistent in the measurements, a difference of the 1x8 divisor that turned out to be more unstable in each one of the measured points.
