Descripción : Objective; Describe the functionality and quality of life in elders. Materials and Methods; The methodology applies descriptive, observational and cross sectional study of a sample of 30 elders belonging to the town of San Jose de Minas who accepted through informed consent, being evaluated between april 20, 22 and May 24, 2022. Described the functionality and quality of life of these older adults where the Barthel Index, SF-36 questionnaire and 6- minute walk test were applied. Results; From a sample of 30 elders where the mean age was 74.2 (SD 7.2; years, in the Barthel Index applied, 50 percent of subjects presented complete independence where the median of the final score was 97.5; IQR 90 to 100 points; in addition, the median distance traveled was 325; IQR 240 to 354 meters in the 6 minute walk test. Finally, the perception of quality of life applied trough the SF 36 questionnaire, as a result the lowest values between the domains of role limitation due to emotional problems 33; 0 to 100, role limitation due to physical health 37.5; 0 to 100, and body pain 43; 23 to 68, which was recorded in the RAND 36 tool. Conclusion; In this sample of elders, greater independence was observed despite the fact that the quality of life has precarious conditions compared to other subjects who live in urban areas in favorable conditions.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZEficacia del entrenamiento neuromuscular en atletas que hayan sufrido un esguince de tobillo: una revisión sistemática

Descripción : OBJECTIVE: To review the evidence on types of training with jumping exercises that improve the strength and stability of the lower limb in athletes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The search strategy was developed using the PRISMA guide (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews) using databases such as: Pubmed, Science Direct, PEDro, Scielo, ResearchGate and Dialnet. Articles were included based on vertical jump and plyometric exercises that evaluated the effectiveness in strength training and lower limb stability in athletes. The inclusion criteria for this review were studied from a qualitative point of view by the different authors in addition to the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale. RESULTS: A total of two thousand and eighty articles found in the six mentioned databases were obtained. At the end of the review, twelve studies were selected. Of the total analyzed articles of muscle strength, eight articles obtained a significant improvement and three articles obtained an acceptable change, in stability it was determined that within the twelve articles only three evaluated this variable, where two articles obtained a significant improvement and one article I mention an acceptable change. CONCLUSIONS: It was determined that a plyometric training obtains positive results in the increase of the muscular strength of the lower extremities even if the training cycles are short, when evaluating the stability, favorable results were obtained, with little scientific evidence for the analysis of this variable . Future studies should carry out research that includes a physiotherapeutic approach that is objective and reproducible, since it is stated that muscle strength and stability can generate strategies for the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries.2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
